Your first football boots
With screw in studs.
Mine were Stylo Matchmakers what dirty Leeds used to wear in the 70's. Pretty sure they make them To This Day, as D Wilder would say.

Lifted from the lost property box when I started secondary school, they were quite nice, adidas with screw-ins, imagine my embarrassment when the owner came to reclaim them and showed me where his mum had written his name.

I think I had Arrow boots.

As a teenager I had a pair of Valsport and they are still the best boots ever made.

Re: Your first football boots
No idea what they were.

Moulded studs. Cheap as anything. Might have been made of leather but were completely rigid.

Might as well have been clogs with studs.

I struggle to remember last week let alone what my first fucking football boots were.

Re: Your first football boots
Can't remember my very first, but the first I bought myself were British Home Store's own brand, and lasted for well over ten years, which has got to be three times as long as any other pair.

Eventually gave up the ghost when the stitching rotted, due to my disinclination to clean boots.

I wanted Adidas Beckenbauer and ended up with the Matchmakers (1970's)

Re: Your first football boots
Biggest waste of money me ever buying Puma Kings... too slim for my wide plates.... tried stretching them out and all sorts but could never be comfortable in them ... ended up giving them away to a team mate

I don't know if it is the current trend but in my day there were lots of player named boots around such as George best, Alan ball and Geoff Hurst

Re: Your first football boots
Ball'y wore white boots didn't he?? Don't remember too many people wearing white boots or any other colour when I was a kid/teenager/... nearest was the Patrick range (keegan's etc)... you might get a different colour tongue on the boot?? Remember first time I ever saw a pair of coloured boots worn ... playing for work side.. mate turns up in a brand new pair of red boots... we called him Dorothy all that season (Wizard of Oz) ... he got the shit kicked out of him all season long... nowdays it's spot the normal (black boot)

Re: Your first football boots
Always had Patricks - lovely soft leather and a wide comfortable fitting; perfect as long as you looked after them.

And they were black, not namby pamby colours like they have now.

Re: Your first football boots
Either Hi-Tech or Puma. But my favourites as a kid where Keegan’s Patrick boots or Adidas 2 stripe to my mates.

My first pair due to my dad not giving a toss about me playing the beautiful game, were...........Woolworths WINFIELDS 'Adidas Beckenbauer' shitty copies and i mean SHITTY fucking copies with two stripes instead of three and red studs.......that was as close it got to being a football boot at all.

Do you think this may have slightly mentally scarred me?
